Why our little handprints?

As you can see, this blog is titled "Our little handprints"...
You might be wondering why this blog is titled as such.

Well, I guess it can be narrowed down to 2 very simple reasons.

  1. All I wanted was a blog that documents my journey as a stay-at-home mum and my precious moments with my children. I did not really think about the title of my blog UNTIL google 'forced' me to come up with a title....and every possible title I could think of was UNAVAILABLE. Sigh!
  2. I finally decided on "our little handprints", and to my relief, it was deemed acceptable to Google. Yippee! I could finally get on with life!  "Our little handprints" was taken from a poem that could commonly be found on those photo frames which immortalise many a newborn's foot prints.
Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
I always leave my handprints
On the furniture and walls
But everyday I'm growing big
And soon I'll be very tall
Then all my little handprints
Will be so hard to recall
So here's a special gift
Just so that you can say
This is how my hands looked
When I placed them here today

I find the poem really meaningful. Children grow up really fast, and before we know it, they are all grown up! I hope that through this blog, memories are made and the children will have lovely memories of their childhood!

About me

Hi everyone!

I am Yin Shian, happily married for 6 years now and a mother of 3 young darlings--Rebecca (5 year old), Rae (3 year old) and Samuel (the baby at 18 months!).

I studied History at the National University of Singapore and did my Post-graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) at National Institute of Education. Since graduating in 2002, I have been teaching History and Social Studies at various secondary schools.

However, since Samuel was born in 2012, I have decided to resign as a full-time teacher to spend more time with the children. Nevertheless, I still spend some days a week as a flexi-adjunct teacher in a school in the North East. The rest of the week I enjoy being home maker, and most importantly, teaching and having fun with the little ones!

This is my first attempt at writing a blog, so please do bear with my newbie attempts! :)
